New projects of the network development envisages the following directions of activity:
- Transferring principal arterial RENAM network connections on new technological base. That's mean utilizing of fiber optic communication media within Chisinau City RENAM backbone and creation ATM technology OC3 links for the most intensive traffic exchange highways realization. This direction of network development assumes creation in collaboration with partner organization dedicated fiber-optic channels, which will be used for data exchange by all scientific and educational community representatives, with other providers in Moldova, and will ensure optimal cost/throughput and very reliable solution.
- Widening RENAM network for covering new regions of the country and utilization of more capacitate connections to peripheral nodes.
- Perfection of Internet access for all RENAM network participants. Perspective external connections scheme assumes utilization of three communication holes: existing satellite channel to Germany; direct link to the one of Moldavian providers; construction of the high speed connection to the Trance-European GEANT academic network through partner Romanian NREN RoEduNet, which is GEANT project consortium member and exploiting 155 Mbps connection to GEANT.
- Development of scientific and educational content within Moldavian NREN. The worth of every informational system depends on the provided informational resources. RENAM network accumulates different data collections, which are intended for consuming by researchers, universities and colleges teachers, students and post-graduate specialists. The accumulating data can be systemized as follows: general web-sites of RENAM participating organizations; electronic publications and bibliographical databases; distant learning curricula collections and references on the available distant education systems, their descriptions and linked manuals.
